Building Workshops for Kids

Throughout the winter we have taken our children to Lowe’s home improvement stores for their kid’s Build & Grow clinics.
Lowe’s and Home Depot have workshops for kids to build pre-packaged wood sets.  So far at Lowe’s, our boys have built a gingerbread house, pet treat keeper, money bank and a tic-tac toe game.
Usually when we arrive at [...]

Local Public Safety Events Celebrated Fire Prevention Week

Every Fall towns all around put on events for Fire Prevention Week. Some are held at the Public Safety Buildings or Fire Stations and some are held at other facilities. The weekend of Oct. 3rd, Rochester, New Hampshire held their event in the Home Depot parking lot.
My older son and I decided to stop by. Inside, they had [...]

Chuck E. Cheese’s Reading Program

Lately, we have been discussing the many programs we have been finding that encourage kids to continue reading over the summer. Make sure your kids complete the Chuck E. South Mountain at Pawtuckaway State Park

We recently took a hike to South Mountain at Pawtuckaway State Park. We wanted to go on an easy first hike in the hopes that our four year old would enjoy hiking and we could do additional hikes this summer. We wanted to stay close to home, but do a walk that we have not already done. I found this hike [...]

Visit the Polar Caves for free until June 19th

The Polar Caves in Plymouth, NH is a great family tourist stop. It includes a series of caves and passages formed by the falling of massive boulders nearly 50,000 years ago as the third continental glacier moved southward over New Hampshire’s White Mountains.
You can explore the Rock Garden, a jumble of glacially deposited granite boulders and take [...]

Thanks to Barnes & Noble, kids in grades 1-6 have the opportunity to win a free book when they read eight books between May 26th & September 7th, 2009. Getting my kids to read over the summer can sometimes be a hard task. This program makes it fun for children to continue reading even when school [...]

Quality time spent at The Children’s Museum of NH

I recently enjoyed a morning visit to The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover with my youngest son. Mornings are the best time to go since they fill up quickly with school groups and young children with their moms.
In 2008, the Museum relocated from Portsmouth to a larger facility in Dover. They have added [...]
